In “Sapiens – a brief history of humankind” Yuval Noah Harari from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem traces the history of humanity beginning 70,000 years ago. It is a state-of-the-art iteration of the story I learned in school, beginning with a randomly mutated ape and culminating in glorious us. “ESCAPING FROM EDEN” digs a little deeper into the testimony of indigenous mythologies for remnants of ancient memory, and finds an ancient and widespread narrative, sometimes at odds with Harari’s story-line, and equally at odds with the familiar Sunday school counterpart. “Stay tuned” and there will be more to share in a couple of weeks as the book goes into production…
