The Sanskrit texts of the Vedic scriptures describe flying craft called vimanas which would ferry the “gods” around the skies of ancient India, the world and the solar system. In the C6th BCE a middle-eastern priest, a leader of the Jewish community in Iraq, claimed to have been taken on board just such a craft. It then flew him around the cities of southern Iraq and finally deposited him in the city of Tel Aviv. The priest was so disoriented by the experience that for several days he could not speak.
